Current Project(s) :
Advanced Light Microscopy Techniques, e.g.:
- Fast multi-channel multi-location fluorescence confocal + widefield microscopy
- In vivo imaging
- Fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), photoactivation and related techniques
- Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET)
Visualization and Image processing, e.g.:
- Imaris: 4D Volume rendering, tracking, colocalisation, 3D measurement, animation, filtering, etc.
- Huygens: Deconvolution
- ImageJ: image analysis (e.g. FRAP), filtering, macro programming, animation, overlay, cell counting, etc.
Video editing and compression
As a 'scientific officer' in the Advanced Light Microscopy Facility (ALMF) I’m working on several projects:
- Configuration, maintenance and testing of advanced light microscopes in the ALMF
- User introduction (currently mainly Leica CLSMs) and teaching microscopic techniques (courses + teaching modules), also in the European Advanced Microscopy Network (EAMNET)
- Consulting EMBL scientists and visitors on usage and choice of advanced microscopic equipment and techniques
- Co-operations with industrial partners to improve microscopic equipment
- Visualization and Image Processing with commercial software (Imaris, Volocity...) and freeware like ImageJ
Macro development for image acquisition, data handling and image processing (ALMF-Downloads / EAMNET-Downloads)
