Ralph Martens

Administrative Director

Ralph Martens started his career in 1985 for Döhler GmbH, manufacturer for natural food and beverage ingredients. From 1991 until 1997 he served as President and Director of the Board of Döhler America Inc. in Princeton, New Jersey, where he was responsible for all food related business in the Americas. In 1997 he joined the Informa Group Plc, where he collected experience in the media industry especially in the fields of conferences and publishing. He was Managing Director for its German subsidiary, Euroforum Deutschland GmbH. Later he filled the same position for the Informa Operations Group in London, where he also served as Director of the Board of IBC Conferences Ltd.

Prior to joining EMBL in mid-September 2009, Ralph held the position of Director of Common Administrative Services at the International Criminal Court in The Hague from November 2004, where he was responsible for Budget and Finance, Human Resources, Information and Communication Technologies, General Services and Field Operations.

Ralph holds a Diplom-Kaufmann (MBA) degree from the Justus-Liebig University Gießen, Germany, and has extensive experience in change management and with start-up organisations. He was listed in “Who’s Who in Leading Executives of America”.
