Alumni RelationsMembers Benefits

EMBL alumni are entitled to keep their Heidelberg lunch cards for life. If you have already returned your card, you can request a new one for a €10 deposit from the Petty Cash Office (Tel: +49 6221 387-8568). Alumni can add money to their card at any of the lunch card machines at EMBL Heidelberg (by the cafeteria or canteen). Access to the EMBL buildings is de-activated on all alumni cards.

Shared Applicant Pool

The Shared Applicant Pool - your quick link to PhD applications.
The EMBL International PhD Programme (EIPP) receives far more applications from very good candidates than it can invite for interview. The Shared Applicant Pool contains the applications which the EIPP cannot accept. They are added twice yearly into the pool - in late August and February.

EMBL alumni may have access to the EMBL Core Facilities and Services based on a fee and the availability of the resources (to which EMBL staff and YIP members are given first priority). For more information, please contact: Christian Boulin, Director of Core Facilities and Services.

Long Term Care Insurance covers part of the costs of help with normal daily activities due to sickness, accident or ageing. The insurance is offered to EMBL staff and alumni at a discount group rate on a voluntary basis. When you leave EMBL you can continue your cover as part of the group insurance scheme, provided you join the EMBL Alumni Association. To qualify, it is your responsibility to inform Gothaer of your departure date, to help them extend your group LTC insurance in good time.
