    Biography: Maximiliano Gutierrez born in 1976 in Mendoza, Argentina, is head of the Junior Research Group “Phagosome Biology” at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Braunschweig. He studied at the University of San Luis, San Luis and obtained a biochemistry and molecular biology degree from the University of San Luis in 2005. In 2005, he was awarded PhD from, University of San Luis, Argentina. After that, he spent almost three years as a postdoctoral scientist at EMBL, Heidelberg, Germany as a fellow of the von Humboldt foundation and EMBO. Since November 2008, he is the head of the Junior Group “Phagosome Biology”. The main area of research is the cell biology of host-pathogen interactions with a focus on mycobacteria.

    Biography: Rob Parton studied biochemistry at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He received his Ph.D. in 1987 from Leicester University in England studying the mechanisms of tetanus toxin internalization under David Critchley. He joined the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg Germany in 1987 as a Royal Society and then EMBO postdoctoral fellow. He worked with Gareth Griffiths and Kai Simons on endocytosis in polarized cells before becoming a Staff Scientist focussing on caveolae, his current research interest. In 1996 he moved to the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, and became a Principal Research Fellow of the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council in 2000.
