Postdoctoral Fellowship: Mass Spectrometry/Multiple Reaction Monitoring

Job description:

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Martin Beck at the Structural and Computational Biology unit.  The overall aim of the Beck lab is to elucidate the structure, function and assembly of very large protein complexes by cryoEM and mass spectrometry. The aim of the position is to develop assays for absolute quantification of proteins functioning in nucleocytoplasmic exchange using Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM). These assays will serve to rapidly screen multiple cellular conditions and treatments. The project will be carried out in collaboration with the Biognosys AG in Zurich and will require frequent travelling between Heidelberg and Zurich during an initial training phase.

Qualifications
and experience:

We are looking for candidates who hold a Ph.D. in molecular biology, chemistry, engineering or related fields. The ideal candidate will have a strong publication record and research experience in tandem mass spectrometry or MRM. An additional background in mammalian cell culture, cell biology or systems biology is preferred but not required. The successful candidate is expected to work in an interdisciplinary team of researchers. Good communication skills and knowledge of English are essential.

Contract:

An initial contract of 2 years will be offered to the successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on circumstances at the time of the review.
