EMBL Advanced Training Centre
The donations towards the EMBL Advanced Training Centre enabled us to create a unique state of the art conference and training centre that will be on the forefront of promoting and providing advanced scientific training in Europe and beyond.
The Advanced Training Centre would not have been initiated without Klaus Tschira's suggestion of a "double helix building" and the subsequent initial donation of 10 € Million from the Klaus Tschira Foundation. This support represents an unparalleled contribution to the advanced training of molecular life sciences in Europe to which the German Ministry of Science and Education and the state of Baden Württemberg made generous contributions to realise the Advanced Training Centre project.
The Advanced Training Centre provides training opportunities by offering conferences and workshops and its state-of-the-art training laboratories complete its mission by creating an exemplary, flexible infrastructure for practical courses. We thank the Dietmar Hopp Stiftung for a 500.000 € donation for equipping these training labs that will serve many young scientists and medical doctors to advance their research through practical training on modern techniques and technologies.
