Arantza Etxeberria Agiriano

Biography

Arantza Etxeberria Agiriano is assistant professor and researcher at the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), within a research group actively working on issues concerning the philosophy of biology and bioethics. She graduated in Philosophy at the Complutense University of Madrid (1985), obtained a PhD in Philosophy at the University of the Basque Country (1992), and was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Sussex.

Since then she has been a visiting scholar at the University of Iceland (2000 and 2002) and the University of Exeter (2007). Her main research interests are the in the Philosophy of Science (especially the Philosophy of Biology, of Complex Systems and of Artificial Life), Bioethics (Biobanking and Healthcare databases) and Biology and Cognition. Her more recent publications are in the journals: Biosystems, Elhuyar, Semiotica, TheorĂ­a, Theory in Biosciences, Leonardo y Artificial Life.
