Registration deadline extended until 15 August for the
EMBO Conference Series on Morphogenesis and Dynamics of Multicellular Systems
2 - 6 October 2009, EMBL Heidelberg, Germany

Registration is still possible until 15 August 2009.

Developmental biology, cell biology and biophysics are rapidly becoming intertwined and it is this inter-disciplinarity that the meeting intends to foster. Special care will be taken to select speakers from diverse fields of research at the interface between the three disciplines. The focus will be on global aspects of collective cell behavior rather than on molecular details. [more...]

Big Crowds met at EMBL for the
EMBO Conference Series on Chromatin and Epigenetics
This year’s EMBO Conference on Chromatin and Epigenetics (13-17 May 2009) took place in the city of the oldest university in Germany (Heidelberg) a bit outside of the city center at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).

The conference was dedicated to Alan Wolffe (1959-2001) who was promoting the idea that chromatin plays a dynamic role in regulating gene expression. The organizers of this year’s conference (Asifa Akhtar, Geneviève Almouzni, Vincent Colot, Wolf Reik) compiled a marvelous scientific program covering a wide range of burning questions in epigenetics.   Cutting-Edge Research meets Extraordinary Architecture
Likely to be completed in November 2009, the new EMBL Advanced Training Centre (ATC) is a unique venue promoting advanced scientific training and education in Europe.

Inspired by the double helical shape of DNA, the ATC hosts state-of-the-art training facilities, laboratories for practical courses, break-out rooms and computer labs, together with a spacious 450 seat auditorium, setting a platform for a new era of scientific conferences. [more...]
