Extended Deadline until 1 March 2010
Last Chance to Register for EMBO In Silico Systems Biology Course
The EMBL-EBI’s new EMBO course on 'In silico systems biology: network reconstruction, analysis and network based modelling', which will take place at the EMBL-EBI, 10–13 April 2010, is specially designed to help train a new generation of life scientists who are as comfortable at the the computer screen as they are at the lab bench. Registration closes at 12 noon GMT on 26 February 2010. Please visit the course website to learn more and to register. [more...]
11th EMBL/EMBO Science and Society Conference
The Difference between the Sexes - From Biology to Behaviour

Registration is open to everyone for this popular annual event.

We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the annual Science and Society conference taking place in the new Advanced Training Centre auditorium at the EMBL Campus, Heidelberg, Germany from 5 -6 November 2010. [more...]

  Another successful M2M Practical Course
On the 28th of October 2009, seven days of learning, problem solving and socialising came to an end for the participants of the 9th Training in methods for Macromolecular Crystallography: From Measurement to Model course (M2M-9). This was the 11th course of the series, which was initiated in 1991 at EMBL Hamburg. Although the intense course had taken its toll on participants and organizers alike, all were happy with the quality of the course. [more...]
Small Molecule Training gets off to a great Start at the EMBL-EBI
The first Hands-on course on “Small Molecule Bioactivity Resources at The EBI” has just successfully taken place (25-29 January 2010). The course provided hands-on training on several topics ranging from searching ChEMBL - the EMBL-EBI's newly launched public database of drugs and drug-like molecules - to optimising compound structures for target validation. [more...]
  Exploring Modular Protein Architecture 2010
Proteins, bioinformatics, teaching, great food, long evenings, good beer - all key features of the third bioinformatic practical course on Exploring Modular Protein Architecture (EMPA2010). The course, organised by EMBL's Toby Gibson and Aidan Budd with the help of the EMBL Courses and Conferences Office, took place this January at the EMBL in Heidelberg, Germany. [more...]
EMBL-EBI’s Hands-on Training Programme hits the Spot
Whenever you start a new venture, it’s important to seek feedback on whether you're getting it right, and to respond to it. The EMBL-EBI would like to take this opportunity to thank all those trainees who provided feedback in 2009 – our second full year of Hands-on courses. We are absolutely delighted that 92.5% of those who completed an evaluation form rated our courses “useful” or “extremely useful” to their work. [more...]
