EMBO Practical Course
Cryo-Electron Microscopy and 3D Image Processing
EMBL Heidelberg, Germany Sunday 29 August - Sunday 5 September 2010
General Information
Lectures will cover the theoretical aspects of cryo-electron microscopy and image processing for 3D reconstruction of macromolecular complexes.
Students will be assigned to one major (17 hours) and one minor (9 hours) practical, in small groups. Major practicals include single-particle reconstruction, helical reconstruction, 2D crystallography and subtomogram averaging. Minor practicals include these four topics and also cryo-electron microscopy. The course will take place in the new Advanced Training Centre at EMBL, and will make use of the electron microscopy facilities at EMBL.
