EMBL Introductory Course
Next-Generation Sequencing Applications and Data AnalysisEMBL Heidelberg, Germany Monday 6 October - Wednesday 8 October 2014 Application deadline: Sunday 13 July 2014
This course is aimed at PhD students and post-doctoral researchers who are applying or planning to apply high throughput sequencing technologies and bioinformatics methods in their research.
It covers next-generation sequencing applications and data analysis of RNA-Seq, DNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq and DNA methylation sequencing experiments. Some familiarity with the sequencing technology and the biological use cases of high throughput sequencing is a plus. Talks and practical exercises are both part of this course. Practicals are conducted under Linux using open-source next-generation sequencing analysis tools as well as Linux shell and R scripts.
Aims: Talks and practicals to get acquainted with NGS technologies and NGS data analysis.
Course Topics: NGS data analysis, DNA-Seq, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, DNA methylation, de novo assembly, variant calling
