Who can apply for a complimentary press pass?
Reporters, editors and freelance journalists may apply for a complimentary press pass. They will need to provide proof of the organisation they represent.

How do I apply for a press pass?
EMBL will make a limited number of complimentary press passes available to accredited journalists for each conference. Approved accreditation documents must be submitted to be considered for a complimentary press pass. If you do not receive a complimentary press pass, you will still be able to finalise your registration with an online payment. To apply for a complimentary press pass please visit the registration page of the event you would wish to attend, and click on “Apply for a complimentary press pass” under the Press Pass section.

What accreditation documents should I provide?
In order to consider your application we ask you to submit proof of an affiliation with a nationally or regionally recognised media outlet and/or proof you hold an editorial job title and/or evidence of your journalistic credentials (for example a copy of your press card, masthead or a by-lined article).

Will I have access to all areas at the event?
Yes, a press pass entitles you to visit the exhibition and conference areas at the event.

Can I bring a camera crew/photographer/translator?
This may be possible subject to approval by the conference organisers. Please contact Sonia.furtado@embl.de to register your interest.

Will there be an internet connection at the event?
Yes, as press you will be able to access the internet onsite via WLAN.

Where can I pick up my badge?
Press passes will be available for collection at the main registration desk at the event.

Can you help me get a Visa?
As press passes are complimentary, we are unable to issue official invitations. Please contact your hotel and they may be able to assist you further.

Can I contact speakers before the event?
It may be possible to get in touch with speakers prior to the event, subject to approval from the scientific organisers. Please contact the event conference officer (details on the contact page of the event you wish to attend) with your request.

How are pre-event interviews arranged? Pre-event interviews with speakers and organisers must be organised in advance.

How can I access images and graphics related to the event?
Please contact the conference officer prior to the event to request images and graphics from the event. Please note that unpublished data may not be published without prior permission. All images and graphics provided from us must be credited to EMBL in the publication.

Can I publish results presented at the event?
As many results presented at the event have not yet been published, journalists will need to request permission from the speaker / presenter in order to use the data. Please contact the event conference officer (details on the contact page of the event you wish to attend) with your request.

Are bloggers able to obtain a press pass?
Bloggers are subject to the same press registration process as all other media, and registration will be judged individually and based upon the credibility of the blog itself. Bloggers must have covered information security topics for a minimum of three months with a consistent posting rate (at least 1 post a week). If you do not receive a complimentary press pass, you will still be able to finalise your registration with an online payment.

How can I book a press meeting room for my interviews that I arrange at the Conference?
A meeting room can be booked for interviews. This will need to be done in advance by contacting the event conference officer (details on the contact page of the event you wish to attend).
