These inhouse courses consist of four 1/2 day modules that you can take individually or together. We offer them to any EMBL researchers who are keen to enhance their bioinformatics skills.

A short introduction will be followed by use of sequence/structure/literature analysis programs using typical examples. The focus of this week is on a number of quite new web tools - some very new and still under development. Collectively these tools enhance the usual basic bioinformatics services available online to users.

The students will be paired up for each LINUX PC. Pairing up is to encourage discussion between partners. Practicals will take place in the computer teaching lab, room V124/V125.

• 14.00-17.00. SRS 3D: integrating structures with sequences and sequence feature annotation
  • Introduction by Sean O'Donoghue, Lion AG

Thursday 30th January

• 14.00-17.00. Genome Investigation with ENSEMBL (human genome example)
  • Introduction by Esther Schmidt and team ENSEMBL

Friday 31st January

• 09.30-13.00. Genome Investigation with ENSEMBL (mosquito genome example)
  • Introduction by Esther Schmidt and team ENSEMBL
