EMBL and EMBO staff and alumni are invited to a drinks reception dedicated to them annually at The EMBO Meeting. This is an excellent opportunity to exchange information and explore opportunities with the EMBL community.

12 June 2014, Hinxton
On 12 June 2014, EMBL-EBI celebrated its 20th anniversary with a day of inspiring talks and fun activities on the Genome Campus. Held on the lawn behind Hinxton Hall, the event brought together staff and alumni to connect, look back on a remarkable two decades of growth and discovery and share ideas about the future of bioinformatics.

21 November 2013, Hinxton
On 21 November, the EMBL Alumni Association (EAA) board held their 22nd meeting at EMBL-EBI, followed by a reception for staff and UK-resident EMBL alumni. Janet Thornton, EMBL-EBI Director, welcomed the 60 participants to the new South Building – which houses state-of-the-art training facilities and the ELIXIR Hub.

2012, Punter, Cambridge

UK resident EMBL alumni gathered at The Punter, one of Cambridge's cosiest pubs, for a relaxed evening of reconnection and networking. The mix included alumni established in academic and industry careers, from the University of Cambridge and Sanger Institute, to three now at GlaxoSmithKline (shown in photo).


24 October 2007, Alumni Day at EMBL-EBI
After the ceremony to mark the opening of the new site extension, the EBI hosted an on-campus symposium for all EMBL alumni and EBI staff. The event attracted 116 participants and was a great opportunity to meet friends and enjoy an excellent programme of talks by the EBI's directors, scientific staff and alumni.

2006 University College London

The first local chapter meeting for EMBL alumni in the UK took place at London's University College. Forty scientists gathered for an afternoon of science and networking.
