The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations worldwide. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Barcelona (Spain), Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton near Cambridge (UK), Rome (Italy).
EMBL is offering a position as Research Technician in the research group of Dr. Simone Köhler in the Cell Biology and Biophysics Unit in its main laboratory in Heidelberg. The Köhler group uses a wide range of techniques to study chromatin organization during meiosis in C. elegans. The successful candidate will take a central role in establishing the research group. The new research technician will manage the daily laboratory operation, assist the principal investigator, and provide training for new team members. The technician should enjoy carrying out independent research projects and contribute to ongoing research in a collaborative manner.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have an appropriate university degree or an education as a research technician. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in at least one or more of the following areas: molecular biology techniques, C. elegans research, fluorescence microscopy techniques and image analysis. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, reliable, organized, able to work independently and enjoy working in an international team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in English are required.
