The Ensembl Project, based at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), is one of the leading providers of genome annotation. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Project Leader to manage the Ensembl variation and phenotype resources.

Large-scale sequencing projects are producing genomic data on an unprecedented scale, providing extensive variant catalogues in many species and leading to the discovery of rare human variants. New techniques also allow systematic measurement of variant impact on functional elements of the human genome. Together, these can be used to drive an improved understanding of gene regulation, genetic disease, evolution and population genetics.

The Ensembl Team creates pipelines and procedures for the aggregation and annotation of large of scale data from public archives. We develop tools for data access, visualisation and variant interpretation, including the Ensembl Variant Effect Predictor (VEP). We participate in projects including the Transforming Genomic Medicine Initiative (TGMI), the European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases (EJP RD) and the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) and are actively engaged with our user community. Ensembl resources are some of the most highly used by scientists across the globe.
