Applications are invited for a post-doc position in the group of Dr. Christoph Merten, using cutting-edge microfluidic technology in the biomedical field. In particular, we are looking for a candidate who will help translating our personalised cancer therapy platform (Eduati et al., Nat. Communications 2018) into a commercial system for clinical diagnostics. This work will ultimately result in both, high-level academic publications and the establishment of a startup company.  More information about the lab can be obtained at:

Your role

You will be leading a scientific project with high impact in biomedical sciences. In a highly interdisciplinary team you will perform either: a) scientific experiments, plan and oversee animal experiments and optimize experimental workflows. Furthermore, you will be in direct contact with partners at hospitals and take care of regulatory issues to pave the way for clinical trials or b) further develop microfluidic technology towards increased robustness and user-friendliness. In both cases, you are expected to become a co-founder of a vibrant biotech startup.

You have

We are looking for outstanding applicants holding a university degree in medical sciences and/or microsystems engineering.  High motivation and enthusiasm to work within an international team with the goal to establish a company selling cutting-edge technology for clinical applications. Fluency in written and spoken English.

You might also have

Experience in or a desire to found a new company. Interest in entrepreneurship.
