We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated intern to join the European Learning Laboratory for Life Sciences (ELLS) Team at the EMBL Headquarters Facility in Heidelberg, Germany. Our mission at ELLS is to bridge science and schools, to offer activities and resources to students and teachers featuring the scientific work at EMBL. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a science education and engagement environment within a leading scientific infrastructure, and to make a real difference to our education programmes offered to schools.
The intern will be involved in a range of activities and projects including:
- Assisting in the development of our education programmes and teaching resources
- Supporting the organisation of ELLS online and on-site training courses
- Helping to update ELLS database
- Creating and reviewing content for the ELLS website
- Assisting with mailings and administrative tasks
You will have a passion for science communications and science education and will be working towards or have completed an undergraduate or Master’s degree in a related area (such as Life Sciences, Science Communications, Marketing or Digital Media, Educational Sciences, Teacher Training). You will enjoy interacting with young people, teachers, scientists and visitors of EMBL. As an ELLS intern it is essential that you possess excellent written and oral communication skills and have strong interpersonal skills. You need to be fluent in English. You will need to be self-motivated, with excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail. You will be capable of working well as part of a team and use your initiative to come up with new ideas. This is an intern position, and as such we expect you to be willing to take direction, ask questions and be eager to learn. In return, we will mentor you and work with you to expand your skill-set and gain invaluable experience for your CV. You will need to be proficient with the use of standard software packages such as Microsoft Office.

- Language proficiency in German would be an asset
- Experience in using the Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop is advantageous but not necessary
- Experience in editing Word Press pages is advantageous but not necessary

What else you need to know
