Joining the lab

Interested in nuclear organisation, working at the interface of evolution and cell biology, and shaping the future of a young research group? We have opportunities to join our research group as a technician, postdoctoral researcher or PhD student.

Applicants for research technician

We are currently seeking a research technician. We are searching for a highly motivated applicant who would have a central role in setting up the research group, and also make original scientific contributions to the research projects of the lab.

For additional details and to apply, please use the EMBL job portal. Open until August 3rd, 2020.

Applicants for post-doctoral positions

We are always looking for promising postdoc candidates with a background in cell or evolutionary biology. Experience with light or electron microscopy, phylogenetics or parasitology would be a plus! You can find an overview of our research areas and interests on the group homepage, but you will have the opportunity to develop your own ideas and independent niche, and be encouraged to work closely with our collaborators within EMBL and beyond.

Please also take a look at the Fellow Opportunities page, the EMBL Interdisciplinary Postdocs (EIPOD) programme and the EMBL | Stanford Life Science Alliance for collaborative funding opportunities.

For applications please contact Gautam Dey by email, including your CV and a brief motivation letter summarising your background and research interests.

Applicants for PhD positions

We welcome applications from prospective students keen to take on challenging interdisciplinary projects linked to the core research interests of the lab, in collaboration with other groups at EMBL and beyond. A background in cell biology or biochemistry would be a bonus, but not required, as is experience with microscopy, image analysis or phylogenetics.

Please apply through the EMBL International PhD Programme.

For all questions please contact Gautam Dey by email.
