Joining the lab

Currently there are opportunities to join our research group as a postdoctoral researcher, PhD student, or Master student.

Applicants for post-doctoral positions

Research experience in any one of the following areas is highly preferred but not required: multi-photon microscopy, adaptive optics, computational imaging or optical engineering. Applicants with experience in photo-acoustic imaging methods are particularly encouraged to apply. A background in physics, neuroscience, engineering or computational science is beneficial. The successful candidate is expected to take a strong lead on his/her project and engage in close collaboration with biologists and neuroscientists.

For applications, please contact Robert Prevedel by email and attach your CV, a brief description of your research interests and/or project ideas, as well as names of three references.

Applicants for PhD positions or Master students

Students will have the opportunity to learn how to develop and engineer innovative microscopes as well as experimental control and data analysis software to address a variety of cutting-edge biomedical research questions. Research experience in physics or related fields and a background/interest in optics, programming or engineering is desired. As our research is geared towards direct applications in biology and neuroscience, the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and the willingness to work outside ones core expertise is required. Students are further expected to be highly motivated to work on challenging research projects in an international team.

PhD applicants: Please apply through the EMBL International PhD Programme.

Master students: Please have a look at the pages for Visitors and Undergraduates and send your CV and a brief motivation letter to Robert Prevedel directly.

For all questions please contact Robert Prevedel by email.
