EMBO Travel Grant
For this course the EMBO Courses & Workshops Programme will provide limited additional funding, allowing organisers to offer travel grants to selected participants coming from labs in countries in need of scientific strengthening. A maximum of 500 EUR per travel grant can be awarded.
This grant should be used to cover economy travel costs. Visa, accommodation and subsistence costs will not be covered by these funds.
Priority is be given to participants working in labs in: Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Taiwan and Turkey.
Travel grants may also be provided to participants working in labs in: Africa, Asia (excluding Japan, Singapore and Korea), South and Central America, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia and Ukraine.
Travel grants are also available as part of the cooperation agreement with the National Science Council of Taiwan, in addition to travel grants for participants from Italy in cooperation with the SIBBM.
How to apply for an EMBO Travel Grant
Please indicate your interest for an EMBO Travel Grant when submitting your motivation letter. During the motivation letter submission phase (Step 2 after you have applied for the course) there will be a small field to complete your reasons for requesting this travel grant.
The recipients of the travel grants will be selected by the scientific organisers during the review process. If you are awarded a travel grant you will be notified after the completion of the review process by the course organiser.
Please retain all travel receipts for reimbursement.
EMBL Corporate Partnership Programme Fellowships
A limited number of EMBL Advanced Training Centre Corporate Partnership Programme (CPP) fellowships are available for this course in the form of both Registration Fee Waivers and Travel Grants. You may apply for an EMBL CPP Registration Fee Waiver and/or Travel Grant when submitting your motivation letter. Whilst submitting your motivation letter (Step 2 after you have registered your personal details) you will also be asked to complete a field with the name of your lab and the country in which it is based, and to answer some questions to detail your reasons for requesting this fellowship. A statement of support from your budget holding supervisor is required to complete the application which a) explains their support for your attendance and b) confirms that support will be provided by the laboratory budget.
Registration Fee Waiver: The sum that you have paid to attend the meeting will be reimbursed.
Travel Grant: Up to €400 for participants travelling from the European continent and up to €1000 for participants travelling from outside Europe (receipts of travel must be submitted to the EMBL Course and Conference Office, after which the exact sum for travel expenses up to the cap will be reimbursed).
Participants coming from the following countries will be given priority for travel grants:
Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Ukraine and Turkey, in addition to Africa, South and Central America and Asia (excluding China, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea).
The scientific organisers will select the recipients of all fellowships during the review process.
If you are awarded a fellowship, you will be notified after the completion of the review process by the course organiser. This is usually 8 weeks before the event start date. Please note that you must pay your registration fee by the payment deadline (6 weeks before the event start date). The EMBL Course & Conference Office will request your bank details and reimburse the registration fees after the event. Travel Grants can only be reimbursed after the event once the receipts have been submitted.
Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds Travel Grant (Including Registration Fees)
There are a limited number of Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds, Foundation for Basic Research in Medicine Travel Grants available for this course.
These travel grants can cover travel to and from the course, accommodation during the course and the course registration fees. The exact amount will be decided individually by Boehringer Ingelheim according to the financial circumstances of the applicants and the calculation of expenses provided.
How to apply for a Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds Travel Grant
Please indicate your interest for this grant when submitting your letter of motivation. The shortlist of applicants will be selected by the scientific organiser during the course selection process, at which point you will be contacted and requested to complete a standard form and submit additional documentation.
The candidates for these fellowships will be selected by the scientific organiser during the review process. The foundation will award the grants to applicants pursuing an experimental project in basic biomedical research who submit an interesting letter of motivation. The applicants should be either:
- PhD or medical students pursuing an experimental doctoral thesis, not older than 30 years of age;
- Postdocs pursuing a particular research project, not older than 32 years of age
