Jochen obtained his PhD at the University of Kaiserslautern / German Cancer Research Center in cellular biology, working over Chinese hamster chromosomes. Having used extensively flow cytometric cell sorting during his thesis, Jochen devoted his entire career to flow cytometry. After working at the Department for Particle Sorting at the Institute for Applied Physics of the University of Heidelberg he joined Coulter Electronics working in various positions in the German subsidiary and the European Headquarters in France in the fields of flow cytometry product mangement, training and education and monoclonal antibody manufacturing management. Later he moved as Sales Manager to Becton Dickinson Germany, where he then became Business Manger Eastern Europe. After working as Sales Manager for Cytomation, Jochen returned into public research as core facility manager for cell sorting at the IGBMC in Illkirch, France. Since then he headed several core facilities in France and is currently manager of the Core Facility for Flow Cytometry and EliSpot of the Inserm UMR 1110 at the University of Strasbourg.
