Coronavirus information for participants

The onsite course and conference programme at EMBL has been paused until the end of June 2020.

We aim to continue offering our advanced training for the scientific community however we safely can. While some events have been cancelled, many have been rescheduled for a later date and others will be delivered as virtual events.

Registration is open for onsite courses and conferences starting after 1 July and for the virtual events. All registration fees for any events which don’t take place due to the COVID-19 disruption are fully refundable.

More information for participants of events at EMBL Heidelberg can be found here.

EMBL has taken the difficult decision to pause our programme of external courses and conferences. As a result, we are postponing the course (new dates to be confirmed) and apologise for the inconvenience.

Course Overview

This workshop will bring together 30 young professionals and students to learn and apply state-of-the-art design thinking techniques. Over the course of three days small interdisciplinary teams will co-create innovative healthcare solutions for chronic disease management. Each team will take on a specific pre-defined challenge from the fields of precision health and data driven medicine. Engaging keynote speakers and experienced mentors will guide participants through the process of ideation, prototyping and business planning. At the end of the workshop, each team will pitch their solution idea to share the results and learnings with the group of participants and experts. Apart from learning new design thinking skills, participants will also have the opportunity to build networks with their peers as well as professionals with diverse backgrounds.

The event will be co-delivered by the EMBL-Stanford Life Science Alliance, Roche Diabetes Care and EIT Health.
